About our Jolly Brewery

We started life at the Jolly Sailor Inn in Cawood, hence the name Jolly Sailor Brewery. However, the path of brewing never runs true and the first brews were actually made at Riccall Industrial Estate in 2012. After a year of sailing, we found a new location in the nearby town of Selby at the Olympia Hotel. The Olympia sells both Cask Ale and Craft Beer produced by the brewery as well as nationally known brands.

Both Cawood and Selby have a surprisingly nautical past. Cawood is where the Wharfe joins the Ouse and in former times this made the river up to Cawood easily navigable, hence Jolly Sailor Inn. Selby a few miles closer to the sea than Cawood was long a centre of ship building, the last vessel being produced in 1992. The photo shows a vessel produced at Selby in 1985.
